BGP Ranking

BGP Ranking is a free software to calculate the security ranking of Internet Service Providers. The system is gathering external datasources (e.g. dshield, shadowserver, Arbor ATLAS) in order to evaluate the ranking over time.

The purpose is to detect any malicious activities of a specific AS number fast and to validate the data sources used for security.

Mission and Role

Your key responsibilities will include:

Coordination and conduct of research in security projects such as European, national, and international projects.
Support to the CIRCL team members in all CSIRT-related activities.
Contribution to the development of open-source tools to enhance these efforts.

Profile and Requirements

EU Citizen.
Experience of at least 5 years in intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, and digital forensics.
Experience in security research, including academic research and publication.
Experience in coordinating research projects and collaborating with international teams.
Ability to work autonomously while keeping a team-centric mindset.
Proficiency in Linux, including shell scripting and digital forensic tools.
Familiar with git and its related concepts.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with users to gather requirements and provide training.
Strong skills in research practices and open-source security tooling.
Candidates should be willing to travel regularly as part of their role.
Fluent in English (mandatory), oral and written. French, German, and Luxembourgish are considered an advantage.

Proven track record in designing, developing, debugging, and releasing open-source software.
Experience in intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, and digital forensic.
Ability to work autonomously while keeping a team-centric mindset.
Proficiency in JavaScript and its related ecosystems is considered an advantage.
Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: PHP, Python, or Rust.
Proficiency in Linux, including regular shell scripting.
Proven track record of advanced data-structure, ML-based algorithms, or related algorithms is considered an advantage.

A very important parameter is the source IP address, which obviously cannot be changed easily to reflect for instance an IP of another country. This tool is helping to setup different views on websites, based on a darknet of proxy servers provided by trusted volunteers around the world.
